Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Operator to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process materials according to work order specifications. The candidate will ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition while maintaining the processing area in an orderly manner. This role requires accurate information entry and performing any other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Pull, inspect, and verify product before processing. Properly and safely set up equipment to run material as per setup notes. Process setup notes according to work order specifications. Verify that the product meets setup note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements. Communicate with sales representatives regarding changes or clarifications to orders. Perform equipment preventive maintenance. Enter and delete material identification tags as per written instructions. Perform general clean-up and assist in packaging material as per instructions and work order. Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition. Operate weighing scales and record inspection measurements accurately. Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material. Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality. Complete job responsibilities safely, without endangering oneself or others. Train others when required. Assist in lean and quality-related activities. Essential Skills Certified in material handler position. High school diploma or GED. Ability to read and write. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Basic math skills. 2+ years of saw operation experience, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Experience with inventory control utilizing mathematical skills and blueprint reading. Forklift operation skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry. Previous forklift experience. Use of handheld measuring tools.
