The Roads and Highways practice is seeking a Senior Roadway Design Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT .
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter, bringing a wealth of experience and technical expertise to a range of multi-disciplinary projects. As a project engineer, you will leverage your specialized skills to perform engineering calculations and design, transforming innovative concept designs into detailed construction drawings and comprehensive technical specifications.
What Youll Do Key Responsibilities :- Design and Drafting : Design, prepare, and oversee the development of comprehensive roadway plans utilizing Bentleys Open Roads Designer software. Verify that all designs align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Construction Documentation Preparation : Prepare, review, and modify detailed construction documents, technical reports, specifications, and accurate cost estimates for various projects, confirming thoroughness and clarity.
- Quality Assurance : Conduct technical reviews and implement DEAs quality assurance and quality control procedures, maintaining high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Site Engagement : Actively participate in project meetings and conduct site visits and field inspections as necessary to maintain project alignment with design specifications and client goals.
- Post-Design Support : Provide critical post-design construction support services, addressing contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), conducting submittal reviews, assisting in as-built preparation, and performing field observations to maintain design integrity during construction.
- Project Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with project teams on all aspects of project execution, including project set-up, drafting, design, quality review, and project coordination and organization.
- Issue Resolution and Coordination : Proactively resolve project design issues, facilitate project coordination, and maintain positive relationships with clients and team members to promote a collaborative working environment.
- Leadership and Mentoring : Plan, lead, and mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and supporting them in delivering high-quality project contributions.
- Educational Background : Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensure : Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Utah
- Experience : A minimum of 10+ years of experience in transportation design.
- Team Communication : Strong ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Software Proficiency : Expertise in Open Roads Designer for effective project execution.
- Extensive UDOT project delivery experience including traditional Design Bid Build and or Progressive Design Build
