About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Laboratory Supervisor with a strong foundation in engineering or scientific education, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality. This role will lead a high-performing, cross-functional team in a fast-paced medical device environment, overseeing routine and non-routine particulate testing. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of leadership, technical acumen, and project management skills, with a focus on applying scientific and engineering principles to drive excellence.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain a safe and effective working environment aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Support capital planning and resource allocation for laboratory operations.
  • Develop, monitor, and report laboratory performance metrics and quality indicators, delivering regular updates to management on lab operations and project milestones.
  • Apply scientific methods and engineering principles to troubleshoot testing challenges and support method development.
  • Champion a culture of excellence that supports R&D and ensures adherence to the Quality System.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality.
  • Lead and develop a team of technicians, fostering cross-training and technical growth.
  • Ensure compliance with good documentation practices, the Quality Policy, and all relevant quality procedures.
  • Serve as the primary contact for project intake and initial screening.
  • Prioritize and coordinate project work requests based on resource availability and timelines.
  • Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional and global teams, including R&D, Process Development, Regulatory, Design Assurance, and Manufacturing.

What Were Looking For In You:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of R&D laboratory experience, or 2 years with an advanced relevant degree.
  • Laboratory experience in a regulated environment
  • Experience in test method development
  • Familiarity performing statistical analysis on data sets
  • Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a demonstrated application of the scientific method
  • Adept at developing technical documentation that ensures regulatory compliance and effectively communicates complex information to cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with testing in regulated environments
  • One year of direct or indirect supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory experience in medical device
  • Experience in statistical analysis and software (ex. Minitab)
  • Experience in test method development within the medical device industry
  • Testing in medical devices
