This firm is seeking an Entry-Level or Early Career Transportation Civil Engineer to join their team. It’s an excellent opportunity for an early professional who is eager to build hands-on experience in transportation design and planning while working with an experienced team of engineers and project managers.
Position Overview:
As a Transportation Civil Engineer, you will support a wide variety of transportation projects—ranging from highway design and traffic studies to pedestrian and urban street improvements. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and excited about contributing to projects that improve transportation safety and mobility.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and design of transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, intersections, pedestrian/bike facilities, and safety improvements.
Collect and analyze data related to traffic, roadway conditions, and design requirements.
Prepare drawings, plans, and details using engineering software such as MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, or similar CAD tools.
Participate in design reviews and client meetings to gain exposure to the full project lifecycle.
Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (AASHTO, MUTCD, DOT requirements).
Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to strengthen technical skills and project knowledge.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or expected within 6 months) from an ABET-accredited program.
Passed or working toward passing the FE exam.
0–5 years of experience in transportation engineering (internships, co-ops, or research projects welcomed).
Familiarity with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or HEC-RAS preferred.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
Interest in developing a career in transportation and public infrastructure design.
