Project Overview:

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtels scope of service in Sentinels current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:

This role will support design development of civil engineering designs for the project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This support is for earthwork, underground commodities, roads, foundations, profiles associated with DOD and USAF projects. Work with other civil engineers and technical disciplines in a team environment.

Major Responsibilities:

Grade 22

  • Development of civil/sitework/earthwork/drainage design and drawings
  • Perform formal calculations and drawings.
  • Review existing conditions and as-builts drawings.
  • Review customer & vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.

Grade 23

  • Develop design configuration packages for configuration control, change management, and procurement.
  • Develop design specifications for construction and/or procurement.
  • Execute to schedule requirement while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Grade 22

  • Requires bachelor's degree in Civil or related with less than 1 year of experience or 4-5 years of relevant work experience.

Grade 23

  • Requires bachelor's degree in Civil or related with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.

Passed the Engineer in Training (EIT) exam or obtain EIT within 12 months of hire date.

This role requires a facility-specific clearance that requires U.S. Citizenship.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Grade 22

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs, VISIO, and other common computer programs.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, as well as Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Broad knowledge of the application of civil engineering design principles.

Grade 23

  • Experience executing engineering and design with Civil3D & Mathcad.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies.
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Knowledge in use of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies.
