General Laborer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated General Laborer to support our machine operators and contribute to the smooth operation of our cutting-edge manufacturing facility. This role is essential in maintaining efficiency and safety in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Aid and assist machine operators by providing materials to the equipment. Operate with a sense of urgency while maintaining a commitment to safety. Limit and manage scrap waste by delivering it to the appropriate department and accurately tagging it for waste reporting. Perform minor janitorial tasks such as sweeping floors and taking out garbage. Essential Skills 2 years of high-speed package operating experience. Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler and use basic shop math. Capability to work in a high-speed packaging environment with a focus on packaging and labeling. Willingness to lift up to 60 lbs throughout the day. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proven attendance record. Strong work ethic and drive for results. Work Environment The facility is a new, state-of-the-art, green manufacturing site with 26 dock doors, over $30 million in technology investment, and plans to expand. Although not climate-controlled, it is well-ventilated with warmer temperatures expected in summer. Safety gear, including steel toes, safety vests, glasses, ear protection, and hard hats, is required. The facility operates on a 1st shift currently, with plans to add 2nd and 3rd shifts. Employees should expect to be on their feet and moving in the spacious facility, working 8-hour shifts with potential for overtime as operations ramp up. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, Illinois. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
