Operations Manager

Atlas Roofing Shingle and Underlayment is seeking an Operations Manager for the Ardmore, OK manufacturing facility.

Operations Manager Primary Responsibilities

• Principal manager of the production department.
• Manage direct reports of the following functions: production supervisors, shipping manager, quality manager, and purchasing manager.
• Drive reliability improvement and continuously initiate & implement improvements to the manufacturing processes in support of improved KPIs (e.g., waste, unplanned downtime, process capability, schedule adherence).
• Continually develop skills and knowledge of direct reports to broaden skill levels.
• Verify that all policies and procedures are followed.
• Create and sustain manufacturing and management processes through effective performance management and process efficiency evaluation.
• Determine priorities for equipment and plant maintenance downs for scheduling.
• Ensure that customer orders are delivered within specifications and as scheduled.
• Ensure that the process and products comply with all the necessary specifications, regulations, and standards.
• Ensure direct reports investigate and troubleshoot all related returns (internal and external) and customer complaints; takes appropriate action to fix and prevent recurrence.
• Oversee creation and maintenance of production operational manuals.
• Investigate internal and external failures, in conjunction with other key personnel, and make necessary adjustments or take appropriate action to correct.
• Maintain and revise the acceptable inventory levels of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods to minimize the operational cost that best suits the demands of production scheduling.
• Maintain documentation, track, and take corrective action when product performance issues occur.
• Operate with an intense sense of urgency around daily execution of production fundamentals including safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Prepare long and short-term plans for design, construction and alteration of machinery, tools, and equipment.
• Develop and monitor production processes, process improvements, new concept development, and new equipment additions or replacements.
• 10% travel to other Atlas facilities as required.

Operations Manager Experience

• Minimum of ten years manufacturing experience with increasing responsibility.
• Experience in the fields of production, shipping, quality, purchasing, maintenance, engineering, safety.
• Experience with database systems and/or ERP software systems.
• Shingle manufacturing experience preferred.

Operations Manager Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Display a strong application of proficiency with production, quality, shipping, purchasing, mechanical and electrical systems
• Display a strong aptitude for data analytics
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• High level of computer proficiency: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
• Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and a problem solver.

Operations Manager Education, Licenses & Certifications

• OSHA certification is preferred.

Additional Information

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hand to finger dexterity, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach and feel with hands and arms. There may be some lifting required (25+ lbs.). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color differentiation. The employee will be subject to extreme cold and heat in the manufacturing environment.
