Create and plan electrical components for buildings or other construction projects. Electrical engineers perform feasibility studies and engineering calculations to determine a set of specifications for the manufacture, installation, and testing of electrical equipment. They manage the electrical design phase of drawing reviews and work with project managers to identify and fulfill projects’ electrical requirements.
Electrical engineers are responsible for developing plans to maximize electrical power efficiency. They may prepare reports about electrical capacity for particular electrical equipment or determine specifications for wires, switches, etc. If the electrical components of the structure or system malfunction, electrical engineers are responsible for identifying— and sometimes resolving— the issue.
