Structural Metal Worker Jobs in Alabama
Raise, situate, and join structural components to form buildings or frameworks. Structural metal workers follow blueprints and supervisors’ instructions to properly connect girders, beams, and columns by bolting or welding them together. They are proficient with tools such as metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.
Structural metal workers are also responsible for ensuring that metal components are lifted and positioned properly. They accomplish this by signaling crane operators, standing on the beam as it is raised, and/or assembling the hoisting equipment, including cables, pulleys, and hooks. In some cases, they may maneuver the hoisting equipment themselves.
