Damskov Construction is looking to add a detail-oriented superintendent/lead carpenter to our growing team. 

Position: Superintendent / Lead Carpenter

Supervises: Field staff and trade partners

The Superintendent / Lead Carpenter is a key position for the successful completion of our projects, which includes being on schedule, on budget, maintaining a high level of quality, and creating great client experiences. In addition to being an excellent carpenter, he/she should exhibit good judgment, high ethical standards, good oral and written communication skills, and strong leadership abilities. The Superintendent / Lead Carpenter is the on-site manager of a construction project, his/her performance is extremely important to the success of the company. He/she is a representative of the company to both the client and the community at large. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of workers, including work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation
  • Create cost estimates for labor, supplies, materials, and other project costs
  • Collaborate with clients, Project Managers, and other construction management to determine budget and timeline
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
  • Create schedules for workers and trade partners
  • Maintain a daily log of the job site’s operations
  • Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet project requirements
  • Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient
  • Ensure that construction documents are followed and that all work is completed within Damskov Construction quality standards. 
  • Residential bags-on carpenter, including best practices and detailing in carpentry categories such as framing, window, and door installation, siding, stairs, woodworking, casework, and cabinetry, finish carpentry, trim of all varieties, amongst other kinds of custom residential construction and shop work.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking, and active listening
  • Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices
  • Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingencies
  • Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations
  • Great problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal-setting, and conflict management
  • Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking
