POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for performing and overseeing general carpentry and repairs to district facilities that include doors,
windows, tuck pointing, concrete work, office wall systems and casework. This position maintains keys and key
records
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Perform a wide variety of skilled repairs to facility doors, windows, locks, glass, door closers etc.
2. Respond to work order requests and complete repairs that do not require outside vendors
3. Maintain detailed and precise district key records, cut keys, re-key locks as required
4. Perform repairs to bleachers, wall pads and other athletic equipment.
5. Perform repairs and maintenance on doors, locks and hardware
6. Solicit quotations from outside vendors
7. Inspect buildings to determine repair needs
8. Identify concrete replacement needs
9. Perform skilled construction projects such as casework replacement, laminate replacement, caulking etc.
10. Coordinate the services and activities of outside vendors.
11. Assist with identifying and prioritizing long term repair needs.
12. Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
Required:
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of a Technical College carpentry program or successful completion of a Union sponsored
carpentry apprenticeship program
3. Valid drivers license
4. Four plus years of recent carpentry experience
5. Able to read and interpret blueprints and work off penciled sketches and rough drawings
6. Skill in the use of standard tools and equipment of the trade
7. Communicate, direct and coordinate with outside contractors
8. Strong computation and problem solving skills
9. Practical computer application skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and other applicable software.
10. Able to work successfully and independently follow oral and written instructions
11. Possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
12. Able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
13. Ability to lift 50 pounds
14. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance required
15. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and
responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
16. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
