Thalle Construction Co., Inc. (“Thalle”) is currently seeking Superintendent. The Superintendent will report to the General Superintendent and work closely with and support the estimating team and interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located out of our office in Leonard, Texas.

Job Title: Superintendent

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This senior level management position oversees and is ultimately accountable for effectively coordinating the delivery of all labor staffing, means and methods guidance, and equipment requests for field construction projects. In addition, this position is responsible for overall guidance and oversight of construction quality control.

  • Continually work with Project Manager, General Superintendent, and Field Superintendents to determine ongoing labor staffing needs.
  • Collaborate with General Superintendent and Equipment Managers to ensure proper coordination & arrival of equipment to sites.
  • Fully accountable for site superintendent responsibilities on assigned large project(s).
  • Participate in the management of daily operational issues, including long-term planning and resource coordination, management of work crews and subcontractors, identifying and improving procedures, project staffing, and ongoing project support.
  • Plan for and execute weekly field meetings to update field staff on current projects operations and equipment moves.
  • Oversee field operations of sewer and water treatment plant construction of medium (48”) to large (96”) diameter transmission line installs. Project construction includes installation of PVC, Steel Cylinder, Fiberglass, Concrete Cylinder, and Ductile pipe.
  • Ensure company policies and operational procedures are understood, implemented consistently, and adhered to.
  • Through the Operations Team, coordinate with Corporate Safety Department to ensure all project safety needs are met and to assist in the adherence to all Company safety policies.
  • Water/Wastewater plant construction experience.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • At least 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in civil construction required.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and statistical data, interpret construction drawings, architectural drawings and specifications, and legal documents.
  • Prior experience effectively leading construction operations.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam software.
  • Advanced knowledge of the heavy civil construction industry.
  • Ability to effectively mentor professional development of field management.
  • Self-starter capable of improving operations processes.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Sound judgment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
