Location: Vance, Tuscaloosa, and Bessemer, AL
Pay Rate: $20-$24 per hour (based on experience

United Trades of America is seeking skilled Pipe Layers for commercial infrastructure projects in Vance, Tuscaloosa, and Bessemer, AL . This position involves the installation of underground piping systems for sanitary and stormwater drains, pump and lift stations, water mains, and other commercial waterworks .

Responsibilities:
  • Install and align various types of pipe, including PVC, ductile iron, and concrete, per project specifications.

  • Excavate and prepare trenches for pipe placement, ensuring proper depth and slope.

  • Set up and use lasers, levels, and other measuring tools to ensure accurate pipe installation.

  • Cut, fit, and join pipe sections using various methods, including mechanical joints and fusion techniques.

  • Work closely with equipment operators and general laborers to coordinate efficient worksite operations.

  • Backfill and compact soil around pipes while maintaining safety and structural integrity.

  • Follow all OSHA regulations and site-specific safety guidelines.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of pipe-laying experience in a commercial setting.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grading specifications.

  • Experience using laser levels, transit levels, and other layout tools.

  • Strong understanding of trench safety and confined space entry.

  • Must be physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs., bending, kneeling, and working in outdoor conditions .

  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check .
