GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Senior Project Manager as part of the system design and planning team referred to as Hi-Line Engineering. The Senior Project Managers responsibilities include broad coordination and supervision of managed projects on time, within budget with the assistance of the supporting staff. The Senior Project Manager oversees and mentors a segment of the supporting engineers/staff in order to ensure that the project deliverables and deadlines are on track as well as monitoring the project budgets. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing a larger portion of the client interactions and will work to generate new project work by participating heavily in marketing efforts and proposal development. The Senior Project Manager collaborates directly with clients to meet their needs and ensure that any problems are corrected immediately with the assistance of the project team. The Senior Project Manager will report to a Senior Director or Managing Partner and work in tandem with the Senior Director or Managing Partner to build a profit center.

  • Demonstrates competency in distribution system design, operation, modeling, planning, and over current protection.
  • Demonstrates competency in areas of expertise.
  • Compile completed tasks from team members and develop them into final presentations or reports to the client.
  • Provide assistance with Hi-Lines training program including development of training materials and serve as onsite instructor as part of Hi-Line's comprehensive training program.
  • Manage multiple projects with direct client interaction. The management will include developing an action plan for the project with assignments and deadlines for the project team. Also response for adhering to project budgets and deadlines.
  • Provide leadership in marketing efforts with existing and prospective clients including development of proposals, attending technical conferences, and on-site marketing calls. Responsibility to generate work for project teams.
  • Will manage project teams(s) and may supervise individuals (Engineers and supporting staff). Assist with recruiting efforts and management of on-boarding of new department employees.
  • Knowledge in corporate culture and corporate rules and guidelines for employees.
  • Knowledge in the details of engagement contracts for clients and subcontractors.
  • Responsible for defining safety requirements for project teams.
  • Interfacing and working with other departments on more complex inter-departmental projects.
Experience and Skills

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or masters degree with 10+ years of experience. Professional engineer registration required for design work. Otherwise, certifications in appropriate specialty fields preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Sag10, load flow, short circuit analysis and Pole Foreman.
  • Hazard identification. Leadership and mentoring skills. Public speaking.
  • Flexibility/availability to work extra hours when necessary to meet project requirements.
  • Ability to travel to project site.
  • Travel requirements will vary from 75% to 100%.
