Job Function:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Industrial Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, applying thorough knowledge of mechanical technologies and principles. This position utilizes internal and external resources to solve complex operational problems related to the above systems and works under minimal amount of supervision to resolve problems with production equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for equipment such as production machinery, production or development test equipment, and support systems
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly drawings for mechanical systems or machinery
  • Diagnose and correct the challenging problems in production machinery and/or test equipment. Devise solutions to complex problems including fabrication of parts, system modifications to provide additional functionality and performs analysis on existing systems to determine process capability
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on hydraulic and pneumatic systems and documents completion of these tasks
  • Document mechanical or electrical problems and utilize internal and external resources to find solutions to those problems
  • Execute plans of electrical wiring for machinery and electrical systems
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker, panels etc.)
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
  • Perform general electrical maintenance
  • Service, repair, replace components, and install building service fixtures and equipment up to 480v
  • Perform precision alignment of machinery and balancing for rotating
  • Use technical knowledge, existing documentation, and test equipment to troubleshoot and repair electronic systems to the component level. Work with Management, Engineering, and other organizations to analyze and recommend improvements to existing designs and test procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems to component level
  • Installation, assembling and fabrication of electronics / electrical components following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, works site directions, and blueprints.
  • Make cable and wiring connections accurately
  • Perform regular inspection to identify defects and replacements
  • Perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality
  • Maintain inventory control of electronic components and tools
  • Maintain documentations of system installation and maintenance procedures
  • Coordinate with management to determine deadlines for the assigned task
  • Recommend upgrades and modifications to improve system performance
  • Develop prototypes for feasibility analysis and make product presentations
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required including building maintenance, as needed
  • Adhere to all safety and quality standards

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent- documentation required
  • Minimum 3 years electrical and electronic troubleshooting/maintenance experience
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s)- documentation required
  • Ability to read electrical and electronic schematics
  • Understand single and 3 phase AC power up to 480v
  • Knowledge of motors and transformers
  • Familiar with PLC programming and ladder logic
  • Possess the ability to solder to the component level
  • Ability to read and operate various measuring equipment related to electronics (Oscilloscope, digital multi-meters, signal analyzers, etc.)
  • Ability to accurately annotate and maintain repair documents
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and work in fast paced environment
  • Understand drawings, schematics, technical manuals, and instructions for performing system installation activities
  • Familiar with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to perform overtime when necessary, including weekends when required
  • MTI is a safety sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment drug screening will be required.
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools and electrical drawings and blueprints
  • Positively identify colors of wires
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures, legal regulations, and guidelines
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • The ability to write effectively, to read and understand work documents, to communicate information clearly to coworkers and supervisors, and the ability to listen attentively and comprehend key pieces of spoken information in English

Preferable Experience:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent in relevant field
  • 1-3 years of previous manufacturing experience

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, bend at the waist, stoop, balance, crouch, and communicate. Will be required to move throughout the facility. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, ability to identify color, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
