Electrical Worker Foreman

U nder the general supervision of the Master Electrician of Record, supervises a medium to large group of electrical workers, apprentices and others engaged in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and wiring .
  • Supervises a group of electricians, apprentices and others engaged in commercial or industrial electrical work.

  • Plans and organizes the work.

  • Assigns workers and crews to jobs.

  • Inspects work in progress and upon completion.

  • Trains and instructs apprentices and others in electrical work theory and practice.

  • Demonstrates and advises subordinates on difficult or unusual electrical repair and installation tasks.

  • Diagnoses electrical equipment failures and power failures.

  • Evaluates employee performance and initiates or recommends disciplinary actions.

  • Prepares cost estimates for new electrical and repair work.

  • Requests and otherwise ensures that proper tools and materials are available.

  • Coordinates electrical work with other trades and operating personnel.

  • Tests and inspects materials, supplies , and equipment.

  • Maintains records and prepares reports on activities supervised.

  • Ensures duties are performed i n accordance with departmental and regulatory safety procedures and standards including, but not limited to, the utilization of designated personal protective equipment.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (required):

  • High school graduation or G.E.D. and completion of a United States Department of Labor Registered Electrical Apprenticeship Program .

  • Four (4) years of journey worker electrical experience installing electrical equipment and wiring including motors and controlling equipment, transformers, power switching equipment, lighting systems , and wiring .

  • Two (2) years of experience in an electrical supervisory capacity .

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements of this position.
