Supervises a group of electricians, apprentices and others engaged in commercial or industrial electrical work.
Plans and organizes the work.
Assigns workers and crews to jobs.
Inspects work in progress and upon completion.
Trains and instructs apprentices and others in electrical work theory and practice.
Demonstrates and advises subordinates on difficult or unusual electrical repair and installation tasks.
Diagnoses electrical equipment failures and power failures.
Evaluates employee performance and initiates or recommends disciplinary actions.
Prepares cost estimates for new electrical and repair work.
Requests and otherwise ensures that proper tools and materials are available.
Coordinates electrical work with other trades and operating personnel.
Tests and inspects materials, supplies , and equipment.
Maintains records and prepares reports on activities supervised.
Ensures duties are performed i n accordance with departmental and regulatory safety procedures and standards including, but not limited to, the utilization of designated personal protective equipment.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (required):
High school graduation or G.E.D. and completion of a United States Department of Labor Registered Electrical Apprenticeship Program .
Four (4) years of journey worker electrical experience installing electrical equipment and wiring including motors and controlling equipment, transformers, power switching equipment, lighting systems , and wiring .
Two (2) years of experience in an electrical supervisory capacity .
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements of this position.
