POSITION SUMMARY
Performs semiskilled work operating a variety of light to medium automotive, construction, and specialty equipment in the performance of a variety of public works installation and maintenance activities, maintaining and performing minor maintenance on assigned equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates a variety of light to heavy equipment such as backhoe, small excavators, mowers, packers, rollers, skid loaders, tractors, all trucks and similar motorized vehicles,
and small equipment such as chain saws and hand tools.
Checks street signs and makes repairs or replaces, as needed.
Clears and repairs catch basins, culverts, ditches, storm drains, water, and sewer lines; removes heavy brush and debris.
Operates landscaping equipment and performs a variety of grounds keeping tasks; maintains rights-of-ways and landscaped areas; assists in the removal and trimming of trees.
Operates asphalt patching and other equipment to pave potholes and repair utility cuts, raising valves and manhole covers in preparation for resurfacing, constructing curb and
gutter and sidewalks, and other tasks.
Operates equipment in street and pedestrian traffic, around other ground utilities and in other tight places requiring care and skill.
Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance of equipment.
Serves as Brush Truck Operator as needed or required.
Complete assigned health and safety courses to create a sage work environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education - High school diploma or GED
Experience - Moderate experience in operation of light and medium motorized equipment used in construction and maintenance of streets and drainage, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
License or Certificate - Valid driver's license in the State of Texas (Class C required; Class B preferred).
Must obtain a Class B driver's license within 6 months of hire date. Failure to obtain or maintain the required license could result in reclassification or termination of
employment.
Special Requirements - May require possession of, or ability to obtain, specific licenses and/or certifications depending on departmental assignment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
