Summary

An Engineer 1 designs and develops mechanical technologies, components, and systems in support of new and existing Lancer products. This is an entry level role, requiring a basic understanding of mechanical systems, fluid flow, heat transfer, and manufacturing processes. A successful Engineer 1 will embrace their role as a learner, engage with their cross-functional teams, and quickly become a key contributor.

Essential Functions

  • Support the design and development of mechanical, heat transfer, and fluid systems
  • Conduct preliminary analysis, simulations, and testing to validate designs and investigate issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, field support, and procurement to ensure project success.
  • Prepare, communicate and monitor low technical complexity project plans.
  • Prepare and present preliminary technical reports and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., IPC, UL, CE).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in CAD software, Solidworks strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with engineering and analytical tools (FMEA, tolerance stackup, 5 Whys, etc)
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and teamwork abilities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Familiarity with a manufacturing environment is preferred

Work Environment

  • Office and lab environments with occasional exposure to manufacturing settings.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and standards.

Physical Demands

Standing, sitting, walking, and bending as needed. Using the proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to 30 lbs. May have to reach for object at or above shoulder height. May be required to operate traditional office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines and telephones.
