Mechanical Engineer Department Head

My client is an mid-sized MEP Consulting Engineering firm that is actively seeking an Mechanical Engineer to run the Mechanical Department. . The successful candidate will be a seasoned and capable engineering project manager, capable of designing and engineering a project from initial concept through completed construction. The Requirements B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Professional Engineering License in NJ & PA (If applicant does not have both, the ability to obtain the one the applicant does not have). Project management experience a must (including interfacing with client, coworkers, and code officials). Proven track record of success in managing multiple projects simultaneously. Hands-on experience with engineering, design, building, and mechanical code requirements, with emphasis on multifamily facilities including affordable housing, student housing, and market-rate housing. Develop and evaluate system concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solution for each project based upon project scope Develop design drawings and specifications for building mechanical systems Perform systems analysis and prepare reports and studies as well as cost estimates Lead and coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, and administration staff Interface with clients to discuss changes to designs and/or specifications Energy efficient design knowledge is definitely a plus. Document quality assurance and control skills. Project field experience (punch list and physical needs assessments). Professional technical writing skill is beneficial. Work with leadership to manage design manpower budget and update budget to reflect revisions or changes in scope Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors Assisting in the firms human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members Work closely with marketing, leadership and business development Perform other duties as assigned Demonstrated proficiency in ArchiCAD or AutoCAD environment. LEED accreditation is desirable, but not a requirement.
