PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fabricate replacement and new parts for facility machinery.
- Fabricate, erect, install, and maintain facility machinery.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility machinery using root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
- Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, lathes, and mills.
- Complete detailed daily maintenance and repair logs.
- Communicate effectively with operators and technicians across all shifts.
- Maintain and secure work tools and equipment.
- Keep work area clean and organized; maintain 5S standards.
- Safely turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
- Actively support and contribute to CI projects targeting improved machine performance, reliability, and uptime.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new or less experienced employees.
- Support the planning and execution of CI events or improvement projects related to machine performance or maintenance practices.
- Assist in sourcing and ordering tools, parts, and materials required for fabrication and repair.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; strong reading, writing, and advanced arithmetic skills required.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following technical areas: mechanical, electrical, HVAC, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, plumbing, carpentry, piping, or PLC programming.
- Demonstrated experience operating machine shop equipment including lathe, milling machine, drill press, and saws.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create mechanical blueprints and schematics.
- Skilled in using CI tools and structured approaches to solve technical problems and reduce recurring issues.
- Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude required.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment. Requires frequent lifting of materials (up to 50 pounds). Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats.
