Position Summary
Concrete Finisher is a full-time hourly position. Concrete Finisher performs a variety of tasks including placing, finishing, protecting and repairing concrete in a safe and efficient manner and according to federal and state heavy highway regulations.
This has been designated as a safety-sensitive job because it involves performing one or more tasks/duties that could reasonably affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task(s) and others.
Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Engage in open communication with Superintendent and Foreman
Safely, efficiently and effectively operate concrete tools and equipment, both motorized and manual
Be constantly aware of your surroundings while operating concrete tools and equipment, as to not injure persons or property
Set forms to desired pitch, depth and proper alignment
Spread, level and smooth concrete using rake, shovel and hand or power trowel, screed and float
Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointer and straight edge
Operate power vibrator to compact concrete
Produce rough concrete surface using broom
Mop, fresno and finish concrete to any texture, including color stamping / sealing
Knowledge of construction layout, including horizontal and vertical control
Layout of control joints in pavement
Application of surface treatments
Finish curbs with or without face form
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
Report any issues with Company tools or equipment to Superintendent immediately
Promote, execute and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program and encourage all co-workers to do the same
Fully cooperate with Safety Director to investigate damage, incidents or near misses on the worksite
Participate as a vital team member and contribute toward the success of the organization
Demonstrate excellent hand, eye and foot coordination and sense of balance
May perform other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, Behaviors
Experience: 2 years of concrete experience preferred
Bilingual, a plus
Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools, e.g. laser, percentage level, bubble level, etc.
Know how to operate concrete equipment and tools
Ability to follow instructions and established procedures and practices
A strong commitment to all Company, state and federal health and safety guidelines and regulations/requirements
Must be able to work in a team environment
Must demonstrate excellent attendance
Must be able to pass pre-employment, post-accident and random drug screens
Must have reliable transportation
