Overview

The Junior Construction Accountant is responsible for managing vendor invoices, pay applications, and financial reports with a focus on accuracy and consistency. This role involves reviewing and coding invoices, assisting with audit support, tracking project notices, and participating in financial reviews and forecasts. The Junior Construction Accountant will work closely with the project team to ensure effective cost control and timely communication of financial updates.

Responsibilities

The Junior Construction Accountant is responsible for:

  • Reviewing and reconciling vendor invoices to purchase orders.
  • Coding vendor pay applications and invoices for AP entry.
  • Reviewing substantiation backup from contractors and submitting comments.
  • Assisting with audit support on large projects.
  • Pulling substantiation backup for TI reimbursements.
  • Collecting and tracking lien releases for TI reimbursements.
  • Tracking project notices to owner (NTOs).
  • Managing cost codes with the project team.
  • Reviewing open commitments and facilitating closure requests.
  • Pulling and reviewing monthly financial reports, and communicating updates to the PM team.
  • Participating in project forecasts and monthly financial reviews.
  • Creating and distributing project-related reports.
  • Assisting with administrative duties in the Development Accounting Team

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years in construction or project accounting.
  • Familiarity with contract language and processes is a plus.
  • Experience with AIA billings and lien releases is a plus.
  • Strong customer-first attitude and organizational skills.
  • Initiative and ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office.
  • Experience with Oracle accounting software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
