Description of Job Duties
Job Summary:
Carpenter I's primary duties are assisting in constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures. Acts as a resource for the physical plant department and builds effective, strong working relationships to enhance department operations and functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist building and repairing using typical carpentry machines and tools
Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and assists determining dimensions and materials
Assist in organizing the supplies and equipment needed
Assist in the coordination of outside contractors as requested
Assist plumbers, electricians, and other members of the Physical Plant on projects
Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
Specific assignments are based on unit need and assigned by the supervisor which could include such things as assembling, fastening, building, repairing as well as other duties as appropriate
Competencies:
Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized
Ability to work independently
Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating the Physical Plant to its optimal efficiency
Work Setting:
Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality
Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment
Reports to the Carpenter Supervisor in coordination with the Physical Plant Director
Employment at will
Full-time status
12-month appointment
