SK Geotechnical is a leading geotechnical engineering and materials testing company in Montana and is currently seeking a self-motivated individual with a positive attitude to join our team as an Engineering Technician. The successful candidate must be capable of performing a wide variety of field and laboratory materials testing, inspection, and reporting. For those applicants with little experience, SK Geotechnical has a detail-oriented training program matching the needs of the new Technician.Duties:- Perform field work on construction sites and laboratory tests in office, and prepare reports for clients.- Perform all materials testing on construction projects, including compaction tests, concrete tests, rebar inspection, fireproofing inspection, and all other types of field services.- Perform all types of laboratory testing, including Proctors, gradations, Atterberg limits, specific gravity, consolidation, and all other lab tests.- Input test results into software (primarily Microsoft Excel), review for 100 percent accuracy.- Read/understand project plans and specifications and performs tests to those specifications.- Inform client with test results and scheduling as requested.- Inform supervisor or engineering staff if on-site conditions or practices appear questionable.- Assist with maintaining test equipment in accordance with SK Geotechnical's accreditation, manufacturer's and/or test specifications.- Review daily reports for accuracy and final reporting.- Maintain accurate records of chargeable and non-chargeable time.- Maintain a clean lab and clean company vehicles.- Occasionally assist geotechnical engineers on field and laboratory work, such as staking borings, surveying, percolation tests, loading equipment, etc.- Assist with maintaining vehicles.- Use safe work practices.Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent.- Mathematical skills.- Computer and calculator skills.- Must be able to lift 75 pounds and operate a wheelbarrow.- Valid driver's license and able to drive a standard cab 1/2-ton pickup-truck.- Must have a positive attitude, be honest with all aspects of work and communication.- Must be willing to occasionally travel.- Good communication skills and able to effectively communicate results and site conditions to materials manager and other stakeholders.- Prefer a minimum of one (1) year experience as an Engineering Technician.- Construction experience is highly desirable.- Out-of-town work will be required (up to about 20 percent), including day trips as well as occasional larger materials testing projects.Hours: Full time with many opportunities for overtime.Equal Opportunity Employer.
