Job Description
Niagara Transformer, LLC, Buffalo, NY seeks Electrical Engineers - Responsible for the development of electrical designs of oil type transformers utilizing electrical design principles, appropriate industry standards and company design practices. Designing, developing and testing transformer components while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications and other pertinent information including the analysis of impulse voltage distribution using VLN program (VIT software). Preparing designs of core and coils for power and distribution transformers and related documents in accordance with ANSI, IEEE, IEC, SCA and other standards, customer requirements, established formats and general instructions. Preparing core and coil manufacturing drawings including materials, fabrication instructions and general information for every specific job. Reviewing and analyzing engineering data, documents and reports and creating bill of materials with all the electrical components needed to fabricate the core and coils of the transformer. Collaborating with colleagues in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing for cross-functional design optimization. Calculation of transformers parameters and validating designs using simulation methods such as FEM analysis like the FLD12 program. Consulting with other engineering groups, as well as Marketing and Manufacturing, to ensure that specific engineering criteria are suitable for the proposed application. Elaboration of customer drawings and design review datasheets, as well as participating in design review meetings with customers/consultants. Investigating technical problems and establishing procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences and resolving issues related to the fabrication of core and coils to avoid production delays and meet deadlines. Requires Bachelor's (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and two (2) yrs. experience in Job Offered or related. Experience must have included Electrical design of core and coils for power and distribution transformers according to the ANSI, IEEE, IEC and SCA standards; Calculation of reactance, losses and forces in transformers with the Andersen FLD12 program, utilizing Finite Element Analysis; Analysis of impulse voltage distribution using VLN program (VIT software); Elaboration of customer drawings using AutoCAD and design review datasheets, as well as participating in design review meetings; Performing Cost evaluation and design optimization to obtain the desired design at the lowest cost; Creation of bill of materials with all the electrical components needed to fabricate the core and coils of the transformer; Elaboration of production drawings with materials, fabrication instructions and general information of every specific job; and Resolving issues related to the fabrication of core and coils to avoid production delays and meet deadlines.Minimum Salary: 75,000Maximum Salary: 132,000Salary Unit: Yearly
