This position is responsible for supervising the operations in support of landfill activities.
- Planning, scheduling & conducting major earthmoving projects for Pine Grove Landfill.
- Training new and existing personnel on how to properly operate landfill equipment.
- Operating Landfill Heavy Equipment.
- Conducting environmental compliance repairs, slope stabilization, and maintenance.
- Establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other divisions in order to utilize all City resources available.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of how weather and seasonal conditions may affect earthmoving project.
- Knowledge of erosion and sedimentation.
- Knowledge of landfill equipment.
- Knowledge of production regarding earthmoving activities.
- Knowledge of how to build slopes, berms, ditches, and roads.
- Knowledge of how to compact trash to optimal density.
- Knowledge of erosion and sedimentation.
- Knowledge of various soils, rock, and hydrology.
- Skill in clearing, grading, reading plans, building roads, loading, hauling, stockpiling, and land stabilization.
- Skill in organization and planning.
- Skill in communicating effectively.
- Skill in the operation of landfill equipment such as a dozer, finishing dozer, compactor, backhoe, loader, tractor, excavator, grinder, haul truck, and all equipment associated with landfilling activities.
- Skill in building a landfill to plan.
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color.
