Overview
Plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs company-wide, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions. Administer workers compensation benefits.
Responsibilities
- Create, update and maintain plant safety programs in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Maintain and apply knowledge of current OSHA regulations and relevant state workers compensation laws.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
- Ensure accurate overall recordkeeping of safety and workers compensation for legal and inspection purposes.
- Administer workers compensation claims from opening to closure.
- Recommend safety enhancements that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards.
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
- Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
- Administer company safety incentive program.
- Create annual safety training program and track progress to ensure all plants are OSHA compliant.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent experience required. OSHA training/certification preferred.
- Three to five years previous work-related experience.
- Minimal overnight travel required.
- Computer skills required; Outlook email, Word, Excel.
