Safety Manager Solar O&M Operations

  • Peak Demand
  • Independence, Kansas
  • Full Time

Our client is a rapidly growing solar O&M provider with a strong operational footprint across the U.S., managing over 4.5 GW of distributed generation and utility-scale PV and BESS sites. Known for their hands-on, collaborative culture, the company has built one of the most respected safety programs in the industry and is now seeking a field-focused Safety Manager to sustain and elevate their high standards across a growing portfolio.

This role opened due to an internal promotion and is a chance to step into a mature, well-functioning safety program. The next Safety Manager will be tasked with leading field audits and training, mentoring site leaders, and ensuring safety remains a core pillar as the company scales. For someone with a field-to-safety background in solar or high-voltage operations, this is a chance to build on a strong foundation and grow into a future director-level role.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and deliver safety training programs, including QEW, NFPA 70E, and LOTO for solar and BESS sites
  • Conduct regular safety audits and assessments across field operations, identifying and addressing hazards proactively
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and manage corrective actions and documentation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety and environmental compliance, reporting, and regulatory coordination
  • Support site teams with guidance on safety policy implementation and OSHA, NFPA, and company-specific requirements
  • Partner with leadership to improve safety systems and processes, including LMS platforms and Emergency Action Plans
  • Track safety trends and metrics, providing data to leadership to drive improvements and reduce risk
  • Mentor field leads and operations staff in safety culture, compliance, and leadership principles
  • Coordinate and lead annual safety audits across all active facilities

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in safety management, ideally in solar O&M, utility construction, or high-voltage environments
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926, NFPA 70E, QEW protocols, and substation safety requirements
  • Strong background in field audits, incident investigations, and hands-on training delivery
  • Experience in electrical work or field operations prior to transitioning into safety roles is highly preferred
  • Skilled communicator able to build trust across field, technical, and leadership teams
  • Proficient in safety documentation, compliance tools, and root cause analysis
  • Safety certifications (CSP, CUSP, OSHA, etc.) are a plus but not required
  • Willing and able to travel 2–3 weeks per month for site visits across the U.S.

Compensation: $100-120k + bonus and 100% paid company benefits
