What will you do?
Essential Duties:
- Team Leadership
- Lead, develop, and supervise the site Health and Safety personnel,
if applicable
- Provide functional, technical and process leadership to various
plant safety committees
- Facilitate management reviews and site safety meetings with all
employees
- Continuous Improvement
- Analyze processes and associated job functions and recommend
modifications to improve safety performance (i.e., Job Hazard
Analysis (JHA))
- Apply policy as defined by corporate compliance as required by local,
state, and federal regulation
- Investigate and analyze incidents and unsafe acts, conduct root cause
analysis, and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurrence; track progress to ensure on-time completion
- Manage industrial hygiene program and required yearly inspections
to maintain site compliance with federal requirements (i.e., dust,
noise, hazardous chemicals, fall protection, asbestos etc.)
- Institute safety goals which are aligned to the company's objectives,
track progress, publish results and make proper directional
adjustments to meet or exceed each established target
- Administration
- Create and maintain site specific Health and Safety related
programs, policies and procedures
- Maintain OSHA Logs. Compile and send out monthly lagging
indicators (I.E. TRIR, DART, and DAFWII, etc.) to management
- Maintain inspection and calibration documentation for safety
related equipment and monitoring devices
- Collect, review and maintain site required permits (I.E. Hot Work,
Confined Space, Dig, etc.)
- Work with site leadership to develop annual site-specific Health
and Safety budget; monitor and manage spend throughout the year
to maintain budget
- Coordinate efforts with HR to administer Worker's Compensation
program
- Training and Auditing
- Promote a safety culture by educating on programs, policies and
procedures
- Collaborate with site management to assist with enforcing all Health
and Safety programs, policies and procedures
- Provide safety training for all new and existing employees according
to OSHA Regulations. (NFPA, DOT, NEC, NIOSH, etc.)
- Lead internal and third-party compliance audits (i.e. insurance visits,
internal safety audits and contractor weekly audits, etc.)
Skills & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Health or Safety Field preferred
Certifications acquired through extensive on-the-job training or relevant experience may supplement degree
Working Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations
40-hr. HAZWOPER, Certified First Aid/CPR, OSHA 511 Course preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience in safety management or relative education
Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
Ability to work in a team environment with peer department managers
Capable of leading projects with third party vendors
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficient computer skills required
