This position will work as part of a team to deliver roadway reconstruction projects with opportunities for professional and technical growth through training and working with other experienced roadway design professionals. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Public Works Facility, 1600 Prairie Drive, Medina, MN 55340 and remote, as job duties require. There is no public transportation to this facility. Work hours are flexible between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. About the position type: This is a full-time, benefit-earning position. This position is internally classified as an Engineering Technician, Principal. Click here to view the job classification specification. In this position, you will: Direct, train, and check the work of other technicians; ensuring deadlines are met. Direct and perform tasks in the design and review of roadway design elements for complex road and bridge projects that include but are not limited to utility tabs and plans, alignment plans and tabs, removal, construction, profile, intersection detail sheets, construction staging plans, erosion control, turf establishment plans, and cross section sheets. Assist or lead project coordination efforts to include utilities, agencies, residents, and other county departments. Develop and maintain expertise in the preliminary and final design of roadway design elements. Support other technicians and design squads by applying roadway design criteria that include complex preliminary geometric layouts, determining typical construction sections, surface modeling, profile grades, drainage, detail design standards, specification items, preparing, and checking and reviewing cost estimates. Assist during development of federal and/or state required documents.
