Electrical Engineer

ReconCraft is seeking an Electrical Engineer who will perform design, engineering, and provide support to the manufacturing teams constructing boats and maritime platforms. The member will interface with our structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers, CAD designers, project managers, and supplier base.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Support engineering projects, with a specific focus on electrical and control system design, component selection (BOM) development, electrical power loads analysis, AC and DC power generation and distribution systems, network and CANBUS architecture.
  • Starting with project specifications and applicable regulations, create and develop designs, drawings, and related documentation for submittal to clients.
  • Create and develop detailed shop fabrication drawings for production builds.
  • Refine first-article or other designs to capture improvements and optimize production efficiency.
  • Act as a technical liaison for electrical and controls discussions with third-party partners, stakeholders, and government clients.
  • Facilitate solutions to relevant design-related production issues with project management and manufacturing personnel.
  • Work closely with management to support proposal development, estimates, and technical feasibility for potential projects.
  • Review all related documents for accuracy and to ensure that they comply with program or contract specifications.
  • Help establish and maintain detailed processes and procedures for all electrical and controls engineering applications.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise for all vessel construction standards and codes related to SWBS group 300.
  • Employing engineering and management best practices and methodologies for providing project leadership.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies that will maximize the synergies among related vessel programs.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Citizenship:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • 5+ years of electrical marine design, engineering, or construction experience, or 7+ years of experience in a related technical field, or a similar combination of relevant experience and education.

  • Electrical and control systems design competency and good working knowledge of USCG, ABYC, IEEE, ISO, and Classification Society rules.

  • In-depth working knowledge and understanding of design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and other industry standard software.

  • Thorough understanding of AC and DC power generation and distribution systems design.

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, Visio, and Outlook).

  • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience in marine manned, or unmanned electrical and control systems engineering in general.

  • Experience developing interface control documents (ICDs)

  • Design experience of with high-speed craft.

  • Government vessel program and contract experience.

  • CANBUS, NMEA 2000, J1939 I-O Link, Ethernet, MODbus TCP, ProfiNet, EthernetIP, and other databus design standards and protocols.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Effectively and safely perform work in support of company and client objectives in both office (primary) and shop (secondary) environments.

  • This position may require limited shop floor inspection and oversight of design integration and production efforts for the purposes of validation, verification, troubleshooting and testing. This could include grasping, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing, and visual acuity.

Position Pay Range

$120,000 - $135,000 USD
