The City of O'Fallon is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Inspector I to join our team! This role is essential to ensuring that construction projects throughout the city meet all codes, standards, and regulations-helping us build a safe, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure for our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Review construction plans and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and code compliance.

• Conduct field inspections on public and private construction projects, including water systems, sewer lines, storm sewers, earthwork, roads, and bridges.

• Make on-site decisions regarding construction practices, safety, and quality control.

• Coordinate and communicate with contractors, project managers, utility companies, and the public.

• Review contractor invoices, shop drawings, test results, and related documents.

• Perform inspections for utility excavations, final lot grading, and driveway permits.

• Ensure work is completed in accordance with escrow agreements and permit conditions.

• Maintain accurate records of inspections and field measurements.

• Respond to inquiries and concerns from residents and stakeholders.

• Assist with snow removal operations and other departmental initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized training in construction or engineering.

• One (1) year of experience in construction or a related field (a relevant degree may be substituted at the City's discretion).

• Certification as an ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I (or ability to obtain within 1 year).

• Valid Missouri driver's license (or ability to obtain one).

• Ability to obtain state certifications related to inspections as required.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and recordkeeping skills.

• Proficient with computers and job-related software.
