Position: Maintenance Mechanic
Description:
A local company in Ascension Parish is seeking a temp-hire candidate -- Field Mechanic to perform work on preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs of all wastewater plant infrastructure, particularly mechanical and electrical systems. This position is responsible for ensuring the functionality and reliability of all related machines and equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Installs, inspects, diagnoses, and performs major and minor mechanical repair work on motors, pumps, blowers, boilers, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, generators, filters, and other equipment at lift stations and sewage treatment plants.
Conducts lift station fabrication, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and mechanical piping and plumbing maintenance at lift stations and sewage treatment plants.
Builds and assembles machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
Reads and interprets drawings, plans, and diagrams of wastewater treatment plant infrastructure, equipment, controls, and instrumentation.
Assists with installation of plant-related electrical systems, including but not limited to conduits, wires, relays, pull boxes, switch boards, and switches required for additions, extensions, or modifications to plant components.
May be trained to conduct tie-in inspections; locate and examine sewer lines and other utility lines to properly mark the tie-in for the sewer line.
Gathers and electronically records operations data related to mechanical maintenance and repair at wastewater treatment facilities to assure compliance with established process control parameters.
Inspects machines, engines, transmissions, etc., and runs diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
Monitors equipment for potential failures and ensures that pumps, valves, instruments, and other mechanical tools are functioning properly. Replenishes fluids and components of engines and machinery. Runs diagnostic tests and troubleshoots, and resolves reported problems promptly.
Conducts steam cleaning and pressure washing of treatment systems and lift stations.
May be responsible for fence and gate repairs.
Uses a variety of tools, hand tools, cutting equipment, and multi-meters.
Constantly travels daily to work sites; maintains integrity of assigned vehicle.
May be required to respond to emergency situations after normal working hours and be subject to serve on emergency stand-by alert and call-out status on a rotational basis.
Adheres to proper safety-related policies and practices safety procedures in the performance of all job duties.
Performs other related duties as required.
