SHOP AND FIELDWORK SUPERVISOR (Island Park) BHI ELEVATORS 74 Alabama Avenue compensation: 65K- 90K employment type: job title: SUPERVISOR WANTED FOR IMMEDIATE FULL TIME HIRE SHOP AND FIELDWORK SUPERVISIOR We are an elevator cab interior, doors and entrances manufacturer for the NYC elevator industry. The factory is partly metal forming and finishing, and partly woodworking. We construct elevator cabs, their panels and drop ceilings, and other components for installation. We also manufacture elevator entrances and doors, which includes punching, bending, welding and finishing sheet metal goods. We are searching for a candidate who is capable of managing a small cohort of workers who engage in the fabrication of these things, while being able to assist in the set up, creation of and quality control of said products. Ideally this forms into a lasting partnership where you are in charge of shop and field operations, while the office continues to support all the new work coming in. This means we are willing to engage in a discussion about profit sharing, should this be a good fit. Minimum 5 years experience in supervisory position required for consideration. Minimum 10 years experience in metal and or woodwork manufacturing and fabrication. You should be familiar with the careful and skillful handling of sheet metal in a variety of manufacture methods. You should know how to TIG and MIG weld, and safely and efficiently use of all metal tools you'd find in a typical sheet metal shop. Experience with operating a sheer and press brake a definite plus. Other competencies include understanding the type of the shop work required for the manufacture of the finishes: shearing, bending, forming, grinding and finishing a variety of metals, cutting wooden panels, applying Formica, mounting glass on aluminum, and so forth. $65K - 90K starting salary, plus profit sharing potential, to be discussed. BHI requires that all its new hires acquire a 40-hour OSHA construction safety course certification BEFORE starting work.
