Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description We are seeking skilled heavy equipment operators to join our team on construction sites. You will be responsible for operating bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, and front-end loaders as part of a dedicated grade crew. This role requires versatility, as you must be comfortable performing tasks both inside and outside the cab. Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery such as dozers, excavators, and loaders to move earth, debris, and materials. Use equipment to dig, level, and grade land according to project specifications. Clear land, remove obstacles, and ensure proper groundwork for construction. Load, transport, and distribute materials like dirt, gravel, and rock. Perform daily inspections, minor repairs, and routine maintenance to keep machinery in top condition. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment operation experience. 2-3+ years experience operating excavators, dozers, and front-end loaders. Comfortable occasionally working outside the cab. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in commercial construction and site development. Proficiency with fine grading and rough grade techniques. Knowledge of vibratory rollers. Why Work Here? The job sites are located in the Richmond Metro area, with the furthest site being 45 minutes from Chester, VA. You must be flexible to work across all 15 job sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, Virginia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
