OSHA safety standards.General FunctionUnder direction, to plan, lead and organize the repair, alteration, construction, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems; lead and implement on-the-job training, work schedules, and performs skilled electrical work ***DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but not limited to the following)*** Plan, organize, and lay out assigned tasks. Estimate time, labor and material costs and establish completion timelines within budgetary guidelines. Receive and prioritize work orders. Assign tasks and dispatch personnel to appropriate locations to perform work. Analyze work to be completed and perform cost comparisons. Prepare and maintain a variety of automated and/or manual files and records including work orders, progress reports, inventory and control; prepare reports. Implement on-the-job training. Provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel. Instruct personnel in safe work habits and ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures. Inspect, repair, install, service, and maintain electrical systems including light and power circuits, motor appliances control equipment, switches, switchboards, fixtures, and other types of electrical lighting and power equipment. Erect rigs and move scaffolds and platforms. Install, maintain and repair outdoor lights and standards. Inspect, monitor and verify work performed by personnel and outside contractors to assure compliance and completion within appropriate standards and regulations. Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, and orderly condition. Order and maintain accurate inventory of supplies, equipment and tools, and materials. Communicate with District administrators, personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities, exchange information and resolve issues or concerns. Review, maintain and submit records regarding time and materials expended on projects. Drive to various District sites to conduct work. Assure compliance with environmental, health and safety codes and standards. May be required to work evenings and weekends in an emergency. Other related work as required. **Required To**1. Read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, plans and specifications.7. Work with high-voltage electricity.8. Perform skilled electrical repair, overhaul and maintenance work.9. Interpret mechanical, electrical and other schematics, diagrams and repair manuals.10. Erect and work from scaffolding, riggings, platforms and ladders.11. Understand, apply and explain trade safety standards and procedures.12. Main ain records and files, and be able to prepare complete and concise reports.13. Communicate to resolve problems.14. Operate a computer and related software.15. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.16. Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.17. Work effectively as a team member.18. Meet schedules and timelines.19. Hold a valid Mississippi Driver's License, proper insurance and a satisfactory driving record (MVR will be checked). ***EXPERIENCE***Six (6) years of journey-level experience as an electrician is required. ***EDUCATION***Two year electrical certification is required.
