Senior Electrical Engineer - NERC StudiesJob LocationsUS-CO-WestminsterCategoryElectrical EngineeringPosition TypeRegularDivisionRenewablesOverviewSenior Electrical Engineer - NERC StudiesWestwood Professional ServicesWestwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an electrical studiesengineer that plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the design of ourclients' utility-scale renewable plants, including wind, solar, andbattery storage facilities meets all local and federal requirements.This role will focus on analyzing compliance with NERC standards by performingmodel validation and generator ride-through studies. As a secondaryfunction, the role will also support renewable energy projects through theinterconnection process by creating models, performing various model qualitytests, and developing technical reports.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and validate power system models (in positive-sequence and EMTsoftware packages) for renewable facilities, including solar, wind,and energy storage systems.Analyzes engineering documentation and develops reports detailing facilitiescompliance with various NERC standards (FAC, MOD, PRC, etc.).Serve as a NERC subject matter expert and provide engineering support torenewable energy project developers and generator owners.Support project developers and owners through the interconnection process bydeveloping interconnection models and completing interconnection applicationsfor various RTOs (CAISO, NYISO, MISO, ERCOT, etc.).Produce written reports conveying study results within the project schedule.Coordinate with internal project leads and project managers, as well asexternal clients, owners, and related engineers (such as independent andowner's engineers).Review the work of others performing similar studies to ensure product qualityprior to client submission.Required ExperienceApproximately 5 years of experience in renewable energy and/or closelyrelated power system modeling.Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems,or a substantially similar field having a power systems focus, from anaccredited institution.Experience conducting dynamics, short circuit, load flow, and/or EMTsimulations including the modeling and representation of IBRs and other powersystem componentsExperience with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)standards and requirementsExperience with the resource interconnection process, modeling guidelines,and requirements for various regions throughout North America (CAISO,ERCOT, etExperience using power system analysis tools, specifically, PSS/E,PSLF, PSCAD, and Aspen. Experience with DSATools (PSAT, TSAT) is preferred.Experience in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or VBA ispreferred.Must be detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and a commitmentto quality.Must be a supportive team player, capable of working effectively incross-functional teams and managing relationships with external vendors andstakeholders.Must have a positive and supportive attitude and be interested in being partof a growing team and growing into new responsibilities.Must be self-motivated and capable of working efficiently independently.Must be fluent in the English language and capable of producinghigh-quality, written reports requiring minimal oversight.Compensation Range MinimumUSD $110,000.00/Yr.Compensation Range MaximumUSD $130,000.00/Yr.Equal Opportunity Employer - minorities/females/veterans/individualswith disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity.
