This position manages the Countys training program through the design, development, and facilitation of content. Our Organizational Training and Development Manager will champion the Countys efforts to create an organizational culture that delivers equitable outcomes in policies, programs, and practices. You will have the opportunity to assess the Countys current training curriculum and continue to develop one of the most robust programs in our area.
You will play a pivotal role in evaluating the County's current organizational development needs through use of engagement surveys, supporting employee resource groups, and building strong partnerships with departments and executive leadership in support of the Countys initiatives. From there, you will have the opportunity use what you learn to make a significant impact on the future of Pierce County and its workforce.

You and your team will lead the learning and development strategy for Pierce County in support of the Countys initiatives and programs. Pierce County offers professional development through the Leadership Certification program, robust online learning, direct feedback from your manager, and other training opportunities throughout your career to ensure your success.
Core Daily Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop and coordinate comprehensive employee training and development programs that are aligned with the Countys objectives. Conduct training and development needs assessments and propose training programs that will promote equity and enhance the talent across the County.
- Monitor the training and DEI budgets and participate in the coordination, preparation, review, and administration of the department's annual budget.
- Support the Executives DEI Initiative, training, events, reporting, and activities.
- Oversee the Countys Mentorship, Leadership Development/Certification, and Employee Engagement Programs.
- Collaborate, train, and improve communications with a County-wide group of liaisons to the human resources department.
- Proactively engage, communicate with, and collaborate with department heads, managers, and supervisors to assess needs and ensure consistent training and development efforts.
Minimum Recruiting Requirements:
- Demonstrated high level of proficiency in employee training and development methods, techniques, and practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency successfully facilitating and delivering live and remote training.
- Demonstrated understanding of effective supervisory practices and management principles, including the importance of holding employees accountable.
