Transportation Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a talented Transportation Engineer to utilize MicroStation for designing highway, municipal, and local road improvements. The role involves designing and planning implementation for traffic, facilities, transportation, utilities, municipal streets, traffic control devices, and highway projects. Additionally, you will assist with the preparation of local, state, and federal permit applications and prepare quantities and cost estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan implementation for traffic, facilities, transportation, utilities, municipal streets, traffic control devices, and highway projects.
  • Utilize MicroStation to design highway, municipal, and local road improvements.
  • Assist with preparation of local, state, and federal permit applications.
  • Prepare quantities and cost estimates for various projects.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in MicroStation.
  • Experience in roadway and highway design.
  • Familiarity with IDOT and CDOT projects.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a civil engineering profession, preferably in transportation.
  • Holds EIT certification with the ability to obtain PE in the future.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Autocad Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge in civil engineering disciplines such as drainage and civil design.
  • Understanding of traffic studies and permit applications.
Work Environment

This position is open due to company growth and a strong backlog of IDOT/CDOT/Tollway projects. The office is comprised of approximately 17 individuals with a focus on transportation work, providing exposure to site design for interested candidates. The position operates on a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and 2 days working from home, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The role offers strong mentorship and training, with opportunities for leadership development, tuition reimbursement, and potential career growth into design lead or project management positions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $78000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
