Our talented team of engineers and designers tackles diverse, multidisciplinary projects ranging from ship design and waterfront structures to complex building systems and civil infrastructure. We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Entry CAD Designer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is eager to grow, contribute to real projects, and learn from experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.

Role Overview

This is a junior-level position ideal for someone who has foundational drafting skills and is ready to develop industry design expertise. You'll work under the guidance of senior designers and engineers to create technical drawings and support engineering teams on a variety of projects. Our ideal candidate is curious, dependable, and eager to learn - someone who asks questions, welcomes feedback, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify 2D drawings in, AutoCAD, and other CAD platforms.
  • Support the development of drawing sets for ship structures and systems (piping HVAC, Electrical, etc.).
  • Learn and apply industry standards and drafting practices related to marine and facility design.
  • Collaborate with engineers, naval architects, and senior drafters on active projects.
  • Participate in drawing reviews and revisions to improve accuracy and compliance.
  • Contribute both independently and within interdisciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-3 years of practical experience in drafting, design, or relevant coursework (internships or school projects are a plus).
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or other drafting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work on diverse project types.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • This position may require military base access for project site visits; therefore, US Citizenship is required.
  • Physically able to conduct site visits, field investigations and ship checks including being in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 25 pounds, in both cold and hot environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a drafting or CAD certificate program, or an Associate's Degree in Drafting/Design Technology or related field.
  • Exposure to marine systems, shipbuilding, or facility design through coursework or internships.
  • Familiarity with production level drawing development, layouts, and industry drafting practices.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Rhino, SolidWorks or ShipConstructor.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
