Role description: Arcadis is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our Retail Practice Group in the Seattle office. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and will collaborate with interior designers and architects on retail projects. We are looking for a creative, organized, motivated individual who is a self-starter and can work both independently and as part of a team. The candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent presentation and documentation abilities. An understanding of construction documents and interest in construction administration is essential. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of building and accessibility codes/standards and be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously on various projects. The candidate should have an interest in developing project management skills and have the ability to effectively collaborate with consultants, contractors, and clients. Role accountabilities: The role involves working across various aspects of architecture and interior design, ranging from space planning to construction administration. It requires strong technical expertise, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects while collaborating with clients and team members effectively. Individuals will work on multiple phases of design and documentation - from space planning to coordination of finishes and permitting, with a strong emphasis on construction documents and construction administration Willingness to travel domestically during construction administration up to 2-3 times per year Demonstrate a clear understanding of the architectural design process and how to effectively integrate interior elements and concepts with minimal supervision Review preliminary space plans and design concepts to ensure code, accessibility, and functional requirements are met Coordinate architectural design with structural, MEP, and fire protection consultants Prepare permit submission packages under the direction of the project architect or project manager to meet project timelines Produce drawings and details in compliance with codes and standards Assist with contract administration tasks such as shop drawing and submittal reviews and response to RFIs Coordinate and issue document revisions during construction administration Manage workload and budget required for the completion of assigned tasks Liaises closely with architect, project manager and other designers Work on multiple projects at the same time Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design 0-3 years of experience, with relevant experience or interest in retail design preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD is required Registration with NCARB and AIA membership preferred LEED accreditation preferred Must be geographically located in the Seattle area and able to balance a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of days in the office per week Why Arcadis? We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $90,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
