Fitter/Fabricator Job Description As a Fitter/Fabricator, you will be responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations. You will perform fitting and machining operations such as straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking materials to close tolerances. You will be expected to refer to general instructions to select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded. Additionally, you may repair or rework parts to restore them to required tolerances if they have become distorted as a result of welding operations. Monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures may also be required.
