Fitter/Fabricator Location:Goose Creek, South Carolina Job Type:Contract Job Summary: Responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling prefabricated cast and forged components for welding and bonding. Perform precision machining tasks such as grinding, drilling, and countersinking. Select equipment and set up materials based on general instructions. Rework or repair parts distorted by welding and ensure quality through statistical or other control procedures. Key Responsibilities: Lay out, fit, and assemble prefabricated components for welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding. Perform machining tasks including straightening, grinding, drilling, reaming, and countersinking to tight tolerances. Select tools and set up materials based on general guidelines. Repair or rework parts to restore tolerances after welding. Monitor and verify product quality using statistical or other control methods. Required Skills: Proficient in blueprint reading and precise measurement. Skilled in drilling, tapping, brazing, and grinding. Experienced in layout, fitting, and assembly of prefabricated parts. Background in shipyard or fabrication environments. Familiarity with quality control procedures and standards. Work Environment: Shop-based role at a newly acquired facility in Charleston/Goose Creek. Opportunities available on both first and second shifts. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.08 - $44.18/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
