Building & Grounds Supervisor II
Do you enjoy working outdoors in Utahs stunning landscapes? Dead Horse Point State Park is hiring a Buildings & Grounds Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of park facilities and systems. This position is vital in ensuring the park remains safe, functional, and welcoming for all visitors. From managing water and septic systems to maintaining campgrounds and restrooms, this role offers variety and challenges for individuals passionate about hands-on work and problem-solving. Traditional park housing is not provided, but a full hookup RV site may be available.

As the Building & Grounds Supervisor, you will:

  • Maintain and repair all park buildings and grounds, including campgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, housing units, and water systems
  • Maintain and repair the parks fleet of OHVs and golf carts
  • Manage culinary and secondary water systems, along with waste and wastewater systems, including operation of a water truck (requires Class A CDL and water tanker endorsement)
  • Directly supervise one part-time maintenance employee and up to twelve seasonal and volunteer camp hosts
  • Operate and repair park equipment to ensure safe, reliable performance
  • Plan and manage projects, including cost estimation, resource coordination, and vendor/contractor communication
  • Experience supervising staff, including task delegation and performance evaluation
  • Knowledge and experience in general construction, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Understanding of facility operations, construction principles, and maintenance practices
  • Experience with complex water and sewer systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is preferred and required for successful applicants

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and on uneven terrain for extended periods
  • A Class A CDL with water tanker endorsement must be obtained before the first full quarter evaluation
  • Completion of all required State of Utah trainings (e.g., Defensive Driving, Security Awareness, PCI, Sexual Harassment, Ethics)
  • Agency-provided emergency medical and de-escalation training may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CDL at time of hire
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, sewer, and water systems
  • Experience maintaining and repairing small engines
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain for up to one mile
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching, and lifting items up to 50 lbs.
  • Includes weekend, holiday, and evening shifts
  • May require emergency response on days not regularly scheduled to work
  • Traditional housing is not provided, though an RV site with full hookups may be available
