Were looking for a Building Automation Systems Specialist to join our growing team!

In this role, youll help design and support smart building systemsfrom planning to final delivery.

Youll work closely with project managers, electricians, and other trades to make buildings more efficient and intelligent.

Location : NY & NJ Metro Area

Type : Full-Time | Hybrid (Office + Site Visits)

Top 3 Must-Haves

  • Engineering : Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field or equivalent hands-on experience in building automation or controls.
  • Controls & HVAC Knowledge : At least 2 years of experience working with building automation systems, including HVAC equipment, control devices, and interpreting technical schematics.
  • Strong Communication & Teamwork : Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage multiple tasks, and clearly communicate with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

What Youll Do

  • Review project plans and requirements with Sales and Project Managers
  • Design control systems using building standards and specs
  • Create control packages (device selection, wiring diagrams, controller setup)
  • Support field teams during installation and commissioning
  • Visit job sites to assess systems and update designs
  • Draft and manage RFIs (Requests for Information)
  • Track project hours and stay within budget
  • Deliver final documentation and closeout packages
  • Attend project meetings to stay aligned with the team

What You Need

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in building automation or controls
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and control sequences
  • Experience with Automated Logic software (WebCtrl, LogicBuilder, etc.) is a plus
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders if needed

Technical Tasks

  • Start up and commission DDC (Direct Digital Control) systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues
  • Deliver small projects independently (under 80 hours)
  • Work with HVAC systems like VAVs, fan coils, and small air handlers
  • Set up alarms, trends, reports, and operator workstations
  • Train customers on how to use their systems
  • Maintain accurate drawings and daily job logs
  • Follow safety standards and maintain your tools and devices

  • Work across NY & NJno daily trips to the Clifton office

  • No on-call shifts (install group), but overtime is available
  • Standard hours : 7:00 AM 3:30 PM

Ideal Candidate Location

We welcome applicants from NY, NJ, and PA. Preference for those near NYC or nearby areas. (Note: commute time to NYC is not paid work time.)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.88/hr.
