Title: Heavy Civil Carpenter
Location: Alvarado
We are looking for an experienced carpenter who can constructs, erects, installs, fabricates, dismantles, and repairs structures, formwork and fixtures of wood, metal forms and associated accessories.
A successful carpenter must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with concrete pouring. We are looking for someone who can work shifts, if necessary, over weekends, and at night. Traveling out of town may be necessary at times. You should also be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods of time, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather.
General Requirements
- Must comply with companys drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
- Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
- Practice safety rules.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Safe use of hand & power tools.
- Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
- Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
- Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
- Must work well as part of a team.
Carpenter Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Select type and size of related materials according to the job specifications.
- Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
- Select specified type of lumber or other materials.
- Prepare layouts including lines and grade.
- Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
- Shapes materials to prescribed measurements.
- Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together.
- Fabricate from work then load, haul, and carry it to the job site and install per drawings, sketches, or plans.
- Place and finish concrete in formwork and set and align form panels.
- Set grout forms for epoxy and cement grout.
Requirements
- 1-4 years of experience in specified skill
- Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
Must be clean shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required
