TITLE:
PAINTER - Part Time
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of experience as a journey level painter.
Ability to use and maintain power painting equipment.
Knowledge of paint materials and methods
High School Diploma or equivalent
Demonstrated knowledge of fire/safety laws and proper handling of hazardous materials
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

JOB GOAL:
To oversee the custodial operations of individual school facilities and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable school environment; to carry out administrative tasks required to maintain and operate the plant to the required standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs journey-level painting of interior and exterior areas according to work plan and as weather permits. Prepares paints, varnishes or resurfaces a variety of interior and exterior surfaces including walls, desks, bulletin boards, chairs, ceilings, signs and road striping.
Plans work activities on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Prioritizes work requests for completion in a timely manner. Redirects efforts when painting operations conflict with the operations of facilities or the health of staff and students. Keeps management appraised of work to be undertaken in their area; modifies work plan to meet operational needs.
Assists with the annual painting plan for the district and may assist in development of the annual budget for this area. Evaluates the cost effectiveness of products and methods of application in order to maintain the best value for the district.
Estimates and orders supplies for requested work from designated suppliers. Maintains an appropriate level of inventory of essential supplies.
Researches new products and methods, keeping current with new technology and selects the best products for each application. Maintains product records and records of the time work is done for future reference.
Operates and maintains equipment such as pressure washer, paint sprayer, brushes, and a variety of mobile indoor and outdoor heavy equipment most of which may be used in confined spaces and/or in close proximity to staff and students.
Works in a safe manner, maintaining work areas in a safe condition during and after work projects. Uses proper safety techniques related to chemicals, equipment and work methods.
Responds to emergency repair needs; and to college emergencies including adverse weather to secure college buildings, furnishings and fixtures as needed.
Responds to phone, pager, Email, voicemail, verbal and written work orders.
Assists in other maintenance jobs as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 60 pounds safely. Must have the ability to: stand in one position for extended periods of time; work off ladders, scaffolding, high lifts, step ladders and in close and confined spaces for extended periods of time; work in an environment with chemical fumes without adverse reaction, operate a high lift and other mechanical devices needed to reach high work; and to operate and maintain mechanized painting equipment such as compressors and spray guns. Work involves reaching and repetitive motion.

Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of non-certified staff.
