About the Role

Essity Consumer Goods Canada is currently looking for a Customer Development Manager to lead our Sales Strategy, Category Management and Shopper Marketing functions. The Customer Development Manager will have a passion for driving Category/Brand strategy through driving improved assortment, strong instore marketing executions and working with the Sales team and Brand teams to lead the future strategy of TENA and other brands. This position will work in a matrixed team environment bringing major retailers strategy to life on shelf, as well as developing insights, identifying opportunities and communicating recommendations to lead future industry growth to our internal partners and external retail customers.

What You Will Do

Lead the Sales Strategy, Category Management and Shopper Marketing functions

Sales Strategy:

  • Support Sales & Marketing Go-To-Market Strategy through supporting the strategic planning process together with sales leadership and brand marketing.
  • Plan and communicate yearly marketing and innovation plans to the sales team.
  • Support innovation business case process with pricing alignment, volume assumptions, cannibalization estimates and customer listing expectation.
  • Help identify and launch big bets for the organization and then support, track execution, and measure success to plan.
  • Review, analyze and recommend actions based on standard sales & brand metrics utilizing analytics dashboards to generate actionable insights that will help us exceed our overall performance goals.

Shopper Marketing:

  • Lead our Shopper Marketing Manager through the successful execution of our brand strategies with innovative, insights driven retail in-store program development and execution.
  • Develop and activate shopper marketing programs that grow purchase frequency, trips, and usage to drive brand profitable growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Sales, Sales Strategy, and Marketing partners to develop, manage, and budget shopper marketing programs as a part of Annual Business Planning.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant retail and agency stakeholders.

Category Management:

  • Lead a team that performs/develops impactful category data analysis and consumer insights using a range of syndicated and non-syndicated data sources
  • Leverage insights from global sources to create a vision of our categories 3 to 5-year growth opportunities and help bring them to life with forward thinking planogram recommendations
  • Synthesize learnings from various sources to create clear and impactful selling stories in a visually appealing manner using PowerPoint
  • Effectively educate internal teammates and external customers on growth opportunities

Who You Are

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and competencies.

  • University Degree or equivalent preferably in Business/Commerce or related subjects
  • 10+ years experience in Consumer Packaged Goods or Over The Counter Industries
  • Sales, Shopper Marketing or Category Management experience in the Canadian consumer packaged goods industry
  • Previous people management experience
  • Strong Analytical/Problem Solving Skills perform situation analyses/financial returns/identify growth strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to build highly effective working relationships with sales and marketing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a "can-do" attitude
  • Agility in managing multiple time-bound projects involving several stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to tell and sell the story
  • A highly proactive, detail-oriented and organized self-starter. Adaptable to change and creative thinking
  • Advanced proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office tools
