The City of Alcoa Public Works Department is hiring a Civil Engineer to join our team of professionals dedicated to enhancing and maintaining our city's vital infrastructure. This full-time position involves professional, technical, and managerial civil engineering work related to municipal public works design, construction, and project management. Key Responsibilities: Evaluate design options and provide engineering recommendations for public works projects, including water treatment, distribution, wastewater collection, and solid waste systems Manage and oversee civil engineering projects related to water and wastewater systems, roadways, and other city infrastructure Review and assess development plans for streets, roadways, greenways, and stormwater drainage Assist in the preparation of civil engineering design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents Administer contracts and conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications Address technical issues and respond to citizen inquiries related to engineering and public works projects Perform detailed engineering calculations and prepare reports and presentations for internal and public use Provide engineering support during emergency responses and be available for call-ins as required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proficiency with CAD software, surveying practices, instrumentation, and engineering software for modeling and analysis Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and technical specifications Why Join Us?
