Maintenance Electrician

About Us: Shaler Area School District is a large suburban district located just north of Pittsburgh, serving approximately 3,800 students across a senior high school, middle school, elementary, and four primary schools. Position Summary: We are currently seeking a Maintenance Electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems, equipment, and control mechanisms across the district's facilities. This position is hands-on and requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality work. The Electrician reports directly to the Director of Buildings & Grounds. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and repair school district electrical systems, equipment, and controls. Ensure all electrical work complies with local codes and safety standards. Perform both minor and major building repairs and routine maintenance. Operate and maintain district vehicles, mechanical, and emergency equipment. Maintain an inventory of supplies and chemicals and complete requisitions for replacements as needed. Assist with unloading deliveries such as paper and rock salt; lift and move equipment and supplies as required. Complete incident reports and supply requisitions. Read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Valid Class E electrician's license from a local municipality required. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics. Must be computer literate. Valid PA driver's license (required within 90 days of employment). Must pass PA Act 34 and Child Abuse Clearance requirements. Ability to work safely at heights and handle equipment of varying sizes and weights. Training in chemical handling/mixing provided. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Occasional kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders up to 30 feet. Exposure to varying weather conditions-work is 60% indoors and 40% outdoors. Why Work With Us?
